You are in good company. Most of the people we help have never sold at auction before. Many are parting with family pieces, and that can feel like a big step.
So we keep things simple. If you have ever wondered how auctions work for sellers, this page walks you through the whole auction seller process. There are just three steps.
Start in the way that suits you best: book a valuation for a complimentary pre-sale valuation at our Cotswolds offices, send us your photos, the easiest first step, or request a callback and we will phone you at a time that suits you.
Your experienced valuer gives you a complimentary pre-sale appraisal. That is an expert who will look at your items and assess what they could sell for. You get an honest estimate. An estimate is the price range we expect bidders to pay. Together we agree a reserve. A reserve is the lowest price you will accept.
Once you are happy, we create a record of what you have left with us for auction called a consignment note. We then take care of everything! We photograph your items professionally, write honest and accurate descriptions and publish them in our auction catalogue. Bidders from all over the world bid on our online platform. After the sale, we deduct auction costs and make payment to you.

No. The estimate is honest expert advice, not a demand.
It happens sometimes, and it is nothing to worry about. Your valuer will talk you through your options, such as entering it into a later auction or collecting it to take home from our Head Office. We typically run items twice at auction to give them a fair chance.
