Live auctions and timed auctions, explained
Live auction
A live auction happens on the day, with an auctioneer taking bids in real time.
Timed auction
A timed auction runs online over a set period, and the highest bid when time runs out wins.
Both run on our online bidding platform and The-Saleroom.com, so you can bid from your mobile or laptop from anywhere in the world. One of our clients was even bidding on the golf course!
Inside our antique auctions
Our antique auctions bring together jewellery, watches, silver and gold, fine porcelain, coins, medals, stamps and fine art. One catalogue might star a Cartier brooch, the next a Rolex or a J M W Turner watercolour.
Collectors follow and watch our auctions closely to find their next treasured item. From time to time we also offer automobilia and aviation auctions, vintage and modern vehicles and property.
Autumn Auction at Sudeley Castle
Once a year we hold our flagship auction at Sudeley Castle. We are now consigning pieces of fine jewellery, silver, porcelain, art, and the rare and unusual! The next one is on Wednesday 4 November 2026.
It is a special day out, and you can bid online if you cannot be there in person.

Viewing and catalogues
Every catalogue goes online before the auction, and it is free to browse. If you would like to see a lot in person, viewing is by appointment at our offices in Childswickham, near Broadway.

How do I bid online?
Create an account on our website or use your The-Saleroom.com account. Register for the auction you want to bid on, then bid live on auction day or at any time during a timed auction.
Can I view lots before bidding?
Yes. Viewing is by appointment at our Head Office near Broadway, so call 01386 335949 to book.
What is a buyer's premium?
It is a fee the buyer pays on top of the hammer price, which is the winning bid. Ours is 24.5% + VAT at our antique and collectable auctions, and 25% + VAT at specialist auctions. There is an internet surcharge of 3% + VAT when bidding directly through our own website. If you bid through The-Saleroom.com, the internet surcharge is 4.95% + VAT.
When are auctions held?
Typically, we hold auctions every 5 weeks. Check our auction calendar to stay up to date with the latest auctions. Once a year, we hold our specialist auction at Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe. The next is on Wednesday 4 November 2026.
